About the Job We seek a researcher with extensive experience in plant disease ecology, imaging spectroscopy, remote sensing, and machine and deep learning approaches to work in the detection of invasive diseases using spaceborne observations. The candidate should have strong theoretical and modeling skills, with a background in satellite data analysis to develop predictive models for early detection of tree diseases. Responsibilities include managing Landsat and Sentinel-2 data, developing predictive models, and publishing research findings. Responsibilities Conduct time series analysis of land surface phenology using Landsat and Sentinel-2 imagery (60%). Develop and test models for early disease detection. Assist in manuscript preparation and reporting (35%). Participate in outreach, presentations, and other duties (5%). Qualifications Required: Ph.D. in biodiversity informatics, remote sensing, or related fields; experience with machine learning, spatial statistics, and quantitative ecology; programming skills; proven research and publication record. Preferred: Experience with large datasets, programming in Python, Julia, R, C++, machine learning, Bayesian models, multidisciplinary skills, and sensitivity to diversity. Department Information Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior (EEB) faculty teach, advise, and research in ecology, evolution, and behavior. Located at the University of Minnesota's College of Biological Sciences, with access to field stations and research collections. Pay and Benefits Salary ranges from $61,008 to $71,000 annually, depending on experience.
