Metallurgical Prep Technician

We are looking for a Metallurgical Prep Technician to join our team in Lansing, NY. This entry-level position plays a critical role in the preparation of metallographic samples for microscopic and mechanical evaluation. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to quality and safety in a laboratory environment.

Location: Lansing, NY

Salary: $17-$18.50

Your Challenge

• Prepare metallographic samples using sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching techniques.
\n
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as saws, grinders, polishers, and microscopes.
\n
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and customer specifications for sample preparation.
\n
• Assist metallurgists and engineers with sample documentation and data entry.
\n
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper labeling and traceability of samples.
\n
• Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards in a laboratory setting.
\n

What You Bring

\n
• High school diploma or GED required, associate degree in materials science, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
\n
• Prior experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment is a plus.
\n
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
\n
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
\n
• Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.
\n
• Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
