The Family Peer Support Specialist (PSS) will provide peer-based services to parents, caregivers, and families of youth ages 1321 who are engaged in Unity Recoverys Youth Recovery Community (YRC) program at the Weatherford Recovery Community Center (RCC). This position is part of Unitys initiative to expand youth and family recovery support in Parker County. The PSS will serve as a mentor, advocate, navigator, and motivator to families who are supporting youth in recovery or navigating their own recovery journeys.The PSS will deliver services that include individualized family peer support, group workshops, and structured engagement activities designed to strengthen family relationships, reduce stigma, and increase recovery capital for both youth and caregivers. Services will align with Unity Recoverys nationally recognized, SAMHSA-aligned peer model, with a focus on trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive practices. A background check is required due to direct work with minors and their families.Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:At least one (1) year of experience providing peer support in community or family-serving settings.Experience working with parents, caregivers, or families navigating youth recovery strongly preferred.High degree of technological literacy, including RecoveryLink, CMBHS, and digital communications.Reliable and insured personal transportation.Must pass a background check to work with minors and their families.*Dont meet every single requirement? You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.Essential Duties:Provide individual and group family peer support services to parents and caregivers of youth participants at the Weatherford RCC.Facilitate monthly family engagement workshops that provide education, coping strategies, and tools for supporting youth in recovery.Build authentic, trust-based relationships with families through empathy, active listening, and shared lived experience.Assist families in navigating service systems, including healthcare, education, justice, and community resources.Collaborate with youth peer specialists and program staff to ensure coordinated, family-inclusive recovery planning.Deliver recovery and wellness education to families, including harm reduction, trauma-informed practices, and multiple pathways to recovery.Support pro-social and family-inclusive community activities that strengthen protective factors and reduce isolation.Participate in daily staff debriefs, weekly supervision, and monthly group supervision.Complete timely and accurate documentation in RecoveryLink and CMBHS to support program data and reporting requirements.Uphold the codes of ethics for peer specialists and the recovery bill of rights.Daily Job Responsibilities:Provide one-on-one family peer support sessions to help parents and caregivers set and achieve goals related to supporting their youths recovery.Facilitate group-based workshops and support circles for parents and caregivers.Identify family crises and facilitate access to appropriate support and services.Educate caregivers on youth development, communication strategies, and recovery support resources.Collaborate with schools, juvenile justice programs, and youth-serving organizations to strengthen family referral pathways.Maintain service logs, reports, and accurate participant records in accordance with program standards.Support family participation in YRC events, leadership opportunities, and community service projects.Engage in professional development and maintain active peer credentials.Other duties as directed by Peer Supervisor, Program Director, or Site Director.Job Type: Full-timeBenefits:Bereavement leaveDental insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offParental leaveProfessional development assistanceRetirement planVision insuranceWork Location: In person
