Overview Responsibilities Actively participate in hands-on programming tasks to assist in the development of client solutions. Collaborate effectively within project teams, supporting the timely delivery of high-quality code and meeting project objectives. Core Technical Skills (The "Must-Haves") HTML for Email: Expert-level knowledge of writing semantic, table-based HTML layouts that are robust and compatible with a wide range of email clients. CSS for Email: Strong command of CSS, particularly inline CSS, and an understanding of which properties are supported or ignored by major email clients. Template language proficiency: Experience with templating languages such as Apache FreeMarker, Handlebars.js, Jinja and others. Responsive & Mobile-First Design: The ability to build emails that render perfectly on all screen sizes using media queries and fluid design techniques. Version Control: Proficiency with Git for code management and collaboration with other developers. Email Client Rendering: Deep understanding of the quirks and inconsistencies between different email clients. Email Accessibility (A11y): Knowledge of how to make emails accessible to users with disabilities. Dark Mode Optimization: Experience in designing and coding emails that look great in both light and dark modes. Image Optimization: Ability to slice and optimize images for email to ensure fast load times. Deliverability Awareness: Understanding of concepts that affect email deliverability. Email Service Providers (ESPs) / Marketing Automation Platforms: Hands-on experience with platforms like Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), Marketo, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Braze, etc. Email Testing & QA Tools: Proficiency with tools like Litmus or Email on Acid to preview and debug emails. Development Workflow Automation: Proficiency with build tools and package managers to automate the development process. This includes: Using npm to manage project dependencies (like SASS, inliners, etc.) and writing and maintaining tasks with Gulp to compile preprocessors (SASS/LESS), inline CSS, optimize images, and create production-ready email files. Data Handling: Proficiency in parsing data from sources like CSV files and API (JSON) responses. Ability to iterate through data structures (lists, arrays) using loops. Qualifications Education 1+ year(s) of experience and relevant education. A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or expertise in one or more programming languages with hands on experience designing and building software applications. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
