Job Description The Office of EEO and Diversity Management is seeking an EEO Investigator to assist in ensuring compliance with the City's Equal Employment Opportunity policy and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. The EEO Investigator’s primary function will be to analyze, evaluate and conduct fact finding investigations concerning complaints of discrimination filed by employees; perform EEO legal work and research of fact and questions of law. The EEO Investigator will be tasked with interviewing complainants, witnesses and respondents to obtain facts relevant to charges of discriminatory employment practices. The EEO Investigator’s duties will include, but are not limited to, writing an investigative plan and reports; outlining case questions to be asked and determining which documents to request; contacting parties for additional information and gathering all relevant supporting documents and data. Responsibilities Review reasonable accommodation requests, including maintaining organized and up-to-date records. Assist in delivering trainings and educational presentations to employees on various EEO topics including diversity management, sexual harassment prevention, and other related topics to ensure compliance with training mandates. Assist in the preparation and submission of EEO reports to oversight agencies. Support the work of the EEO Office, including that related to its Diversity & Inclusion goals, as necessary. Conduct research as needed. Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned. HOURS/SHIFT Day - Due to the necessary duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or evenings. WORK LOCATION Brooklyn, NY Minimum Qualifications A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in one or more of the fields of accounting, auditing, correction administration, criminal justice administration and planning, forensic science, and security, or in a major operational area of the agency in which the appointment is to be made. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college. Education and/or experience equivalent to the above. Preferred Skills The successful candidate should have experience conducting investigative interviews and preparing investigative reports, at least two years’ experience with EEO/HR, analysis of issues related to workplace discrimination, or related work experience, knowledge of citywide personnel policies and procedures, and the ability to work and communicate effectively with employees at all levels throughout the agency. Public Service Loan Forgiveness As a prospective employee of the City of New York, you may be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance programs. Residency Requirement New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
