Job Description

The Area Director of Sales-Corporate is responsible for planning and managing the overall sales and marketing for a collection of 2-10 full service, premium select, and/or independent branded hotels. The assignment of hotel(s) may change based on business needs. This role aims to achieve optimal occupancy and ADR growth to maximize total revenue while meeting or exceeding hotel profit objectives across the entire collection. Responsibilities include overseeing hotel sales operations such as direct sales, follow-up, sales administration, staff hiring, training, managing, and coaching. Additional duties involve managing sales and marketing budgets, forecasts, advertising, marketing, and business plans within approved plans and budgets.

Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as necessary to fulfill their responsibilities. For OEM associates, overtime applies and is calculated accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 4 years of progressive hotel sales experience preferred; or a 4-year college degree with at least 2 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree with at least 4 years of related experience.
  • Prior experience as a Director of Sales or in National Sales, particularly selling major downtown markets, is required.
  • Valid drivers license in the applicable state is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for negotiation, persuasion, and influence with managerial personnel, guests, and clients.
  • Thorough professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic vision for sales deployment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse backgrounds and solve complex problems while leading a productive sales team.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales, marketing, and hospitality principles and practices.
  • Ability to perform well under stress and maintain composure.
  • Understanding of financial data and basic arithmetic functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate group, transient, and catering sales efforts to maximize revenue.
  • Manage sales automation and email campaigns to enhance revenue opportunities.
  • Develop and oversee the division's annual budget, marketing, and sales plans to meet revenue and profit goals.
  • Travel proactively to key markets, develop accounts, and support property-based sales efforts.
  • Conduct outside sales calls, tours, and entertain clients.
  • Negotiate contract terms and develop market awareness to identify revenue opportunities.
  • Monitor top account performance and market trends.
  • Visit hotels to assess sales leadership and adherence to standards.
  • Achieve individual, team, and budgeted sales goals.
  • Train hotel staff on sales opportunities to increase occupancy and revenue.
  • Manage HR functions within the division, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance reviews.
  • Develop knowledge of hotel operations and policies.
  • Maintain visibility in the local community and industry organizations.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Promote communication across hotels and collaborate with marketing partners.
  • Travel weekly as needed.
  • Act on behalf of the General Manager in their absence and perform other duties as assigned.
