Job Description

A K-12 school in Antioch, CA, is seeking an experienced Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher to support students requiring specialized physical education services. This is a contract position designed to cover a leave, with an anticipated start during the first or second week of August. The assignment is onsite, with a minimum duration extending through October.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement adaptive physical education programs tailored to the individual needs of students with disabilities, ensuring inclusive participation.
• Assess students physical abilities and create appropriate modification plans.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and other staff to support student progress and well-being.
• Maintain accurate records of student development and communicate regularly with parents and school personnel.
• Ensure compliance with education regulations and standards concerning adaptive physical education.

Qualifications:

• Valid teaching credential with certification in Adaptive Physical Education or equivalent qualifications.
• Experience working with K-12 students in adaptive physical education settings.
• Ability to create engaging and effective physical education programs that accommodate diverse learners.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
